Prince Harry: Kate Middleton Is the Sister I Always Wanted

(Dec. 17) -- As his brother's engagement to Kate Middleton captures headlines around the world, Prince Harry says he couldn't be happier about his royal sister-in-law-to-be.

"I have known Kate for years and it's great that she is now becoming part of the family," he told the German newspaper Bild, according to the Evening Standard of London. "I always wished for a sister and now I have one."

Harry, 26, said he was "enormously pleased that [his brother] finally popped the question,"according to The Telegraph.

Prince Harry, seen here in November, said he is "enormously pleased" that his brother and Kate Middleton finally got engaged.

Harry is in Germany to accept an award for his charity work in Lesotho. In 2006, Harry and Lesotho's Prince Seeiso founded the charity Sentebale to help children in the African country.

The redhaired prince told reporters he hopes his mother, Princess Diana, who was renowned for her support for charities around the world, would be proud of him.

"I always think of my mother in everything I do. I hope she would be proud of my work. My brother and I often ask ourselves: what would our mother have done in this situation?" Prince Harry told reporters, according to The Telegraph. "That helps us again and again."

Harry also praised his father, Prince Charles, for his long history of charity work. "But I learned also enormously from my father who has been engaged with numerous charities for decades."

Harry, who was 12 years old when his mother was killed in a 1997 car accident, said she continues to serve as an example to him.

"My mother was to me, like my brother, a role model. And also to many people worldwide," he said. "Exactly like her, I know that I enjoy a privileged position as a member of the royal family and I must use what was given to me to try to make a difference in important topics."
