Christina Aguilera is already in 'love' with new beau Matt Rutler just weeks after split with husband
Less than two months after splitting from her husband, Christina Aguilera has already found love again.
The singer, who filed for a divorce from music producer Jordan Bratman in mid-October, confirms she and new beau Matt Rutler are already on the fast track to a serious relationship.
"There's a love there, yes," Aguilera told People magazine when asked about Rutler, whom she met when he worked as a set assistant on her film "Burlesque."
"I'm having fun, I'm dating and it's something I haven't had in a really long time," she said, according to the Daily Mail, which obtained a copy of the interview.
"Matthew is a special person...We had a really strong friendship on the movie," Aguilera gushed. "He's the kind of person you could spend hours on the phone talking to and all of a sudden it's daylight."
Despite the quick timing, the singer, 29, says the relationship didn't turn romantic until she and Bratman split.
"Once I filed for divorce, we started dating," she told People. "I'm not trying to jump into anything. I just left a five-year marriage. I'm taking it slow and trying to be happy."
Aguilera and her ex, who married in 2005, have said they are committed to raising their 2-year-old son Max together.
But it seems having a child may have torn them apart.
"We were great the first year after Max was born," the singer told the magazine. "Jordan was amazing. He was the first to change Max's diaper. Then things turned. I was nurturing Max and felt independent in the relationship."
It was at that point that she met Rutler.
"I went right into filming 'Burlesque' [last fall] ...I had an independence I'd never felt before. I was growing leaps and bounds daily. I went from being a girl to a woman," she said.
"When I finished filming, I didn't feel right in my own shoes. I had a lot of things stirring inside of me that I felt were being suppressed," she told People of what led to her divorce. "We tried to work on the marriage and figure out a common ground, but the problems were obvious."
Since announcing the end of her marriage, Aguilera has been spotted getting cozy with Rutler on both coasts.
They held hands and went dancing in L.A., and she spent Thanksgiving with him on the East Coast, leaving Max with Bratman while she visited Rutler's mother with him in Rhode Island.
Though there's no denying the romance is heating up fast, a source tells People the two won't be walking down the aisle any time soon.
"They’re still getting to know each other better," the source said.
