After days of relentless downpours that have drenched California, forecasters predict the worst is yet to come.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency for six counties on Wednesday as heavy rains submerged roads, stranded motorists and forced some evacuations.
The strongest part of the storm is expected to pummel southern California in the early morning.
"It's going to be a three-ring circus," National Weather Service spokesman Bill Hoffer said. "There's going to be a six-hour time frame in the early morning when it's really going to be dumping on us.
