Apple has begun sending out invitations to the media for its Oct. 4 event in Cupertinio, Calif., where the tech dynamo is expected to announce the new iPhone 5.
The event will be the first iPhone reveal since last summer and also the first with new CEO Tim Cook, who took over after Steve Jobs resigned from that position last month. Jobs still remains with the company as Chairman of the Board.
According to Mashable, the new iPhone will have a bigger screen, 1GB of RAM and an aluminum back. The tech blog also reports that Facebook is rumored to be launching its long-awaited and long-delayed iPad application at the event.
And Apple looks to also be expanding the iPhone in other ways. After opening the popular phone up to Verizon customers this year, Sprint is expected to receive the iPhone next.
